The Woman in the Mirror

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (ESV)

Self ImageDo you ever stand in front of the mirror and all these negative thoughts start racing through your head? “Look at those wrinkles!”, “I can sure see my muffin top in this outfit”, “My teeth need whitening!” Women have a tendency to criticize their outward appearance and they continually change their outfits until they feel it’s good enough to face the day. When we do this we are looking at ourselves through our own human self-reflection instead of how God sees us.

If we could only see ourselves through God’s eyes, we’d see nothing but a beautiful person. While our main focus is on our bodies and our outward appearance, the Lord looks at the heart. He sees our inner beauty and He sees what He created – a masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made. Each of us are a one-of-a-kind original and God has placed us on this earth for a reason!

Today, ask God to reshape your thinking, so you can live the life you were made for.  Move past the reflection you see in the mirror and have complete faith that God has a vision and a plan specially designed just for you!
